Facial aging is an ongoing process that relates to the natural breakdown and decline in the production of collagen and elastin. While we cannot avoid the changes that this loss has on the skin, we can address them with exciting new treatments. In our commitment to patient-centered care, we are pleased to offer FaceTite as a safe and effective nonsurgical modality.

What Is FaceTite?

FaceTite is an innovative facial rejuvenation treatment that utilizes RF technology to restore tone and contours, particularly to the lower region of the face. The FDA-cleared device, made by InMode, delivers powerful, controlled radiofrequency energy beneath the skin for more profound fat coagulation and collagen remodeling than can be achieved using an external applicator alone.

Who Is A Candidate For FaceTite ?

FaceTite can improve the appearance of several common age-related changes in the face. These include:

  • Mild submental fullness
  • Sagging jowls
  • Laxity in the jawline and neck
  • Drooping brow line

Adults with mild to moderate signs of aging in these areas, but who wish to avoid plastic surgery, may be excellent candidates for the FaceTite procedure.

How Do I Prepare For A FaceTite Procedure?

In the one to two weeks before undergoing the FaceTite procedure, patients who smoke or use nicotine should stop their habit. Cigarettes and nicotine can impair the blood flow that is necessary for optimal healing and thereby prolong recovery. Patients are also advised to stop using medications and supplements that thin the blood. Examples include vitamin E, fish oil, aspirin, and ibuprofen. Because FaceTite calls for a short recovery during which swelling, bruising, and discomfort could cause fatigue, it is wise to arrange for someone to drive home from the appointment and also remain with the patient for 24 hours.

How Is FaceTite Performed?

FaceTite treatment is performed using local anesthesia. Once the area is numb, the doctor makes a small incision at the edge of the jawline near the ear. This incision is merely a nick in the skin so is not likely to result in a scar after healing. Through the incision, the doctor inserts a thin probe to deliver thermal energy to underlying tissues. A plastic cap at the end of the probe prevents perforation and unnecessary tissue trauma.

After inserting the internal probe, the doctor places the external electrode over the skin, so we have an internal and external arm sitting parallel to one another. The electrode outside of the skin works in unison with the internal probe to create a contained thermal field into which energy is absorbed. It is this technique that stimulates immediate tissue tightening and progressive fat coagulation and tissue remodeling that continues for several weeks. To target the treatment area, the doctor moves the probe and electrode together along the jawline, neck, or brow. The entire treatment process lasts about an hour. Patients may go home immediately.

Is FaceTite Painful?

No. Before commencing with the directional delivery of radiofrequency beneath the skin, the doctor administers a local anesthetic that numbs the skin. Patients are comfortable as the thermal energy heats deeper layers of tissue in which collagen strands have become frayed and loose. Some soreness and tenderness is to be expected after the procedure.

What Is Recovery Like From FaceTite?

FaceTite is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that does not cut or reposition tissue. However, patients can expect to need a few days to recover from the effects of deposited radiofrequency energy and, if applicable, simultaneous liposuction. The side effects of FaceTite include mild to moderate bruising, swelling, redness, and soreness or tenderness. Some patients experience temporary numbness. Following our post-treatment care instructions, patients are typically ready to return to work in a week or two, once they can remove the headwrap that has been applied to manage swelling and support new facial contours.

What Should I Expect From My Results?

Some degree of improvement can be seen immediately after the FaceTite procedure. However, mild swelling does distort the new facial contours for a few days. By the end of the first week after treatment, tightened contours and smoother skin are visible. Improvements may continue for approximately 6 months, after which patients enjoy their new contours for an average of 3 to 5 years. FaceTite may be repeated as necessary to continue the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin.
